An Encouraging Word

YOU may now enter the Throne Room of Grace

The word “finished” in Greek translates, “to complete, discharge a debt, paid in full.”

In John 17, we get to hear a conversation Jesus had with His Father just before He headed to His arrest. Jesus told God, “I have finished the work which You have given Me to do.” Not long after, our Savior hung on His cross and giving up His spirit He cried out, “it is finished!” Immediately after, rocks split, the earth quaked and the temple curtain tore from top to bottom at the significance of what Christ accomplished.

All barriers between Holy God and humankind had been broken forever and it rocked the world. That heavy curtain that separated people from the presence of God was ripped opened. Jesus had paid the admission price for all, in full, and forever!

You may now enter the Throne Room of Grace!

Come as you wish before your Father in Heaven. You have access to Almighty God! Christians have an invitation to be intimate whenever we want with the Creator of the universe who never lies but instead has promised that He is our Provider, our Protector, our Healer, our Deliverer, our Peace, All-Sufficient, All-Powerful, All-Knowing, All-Faithful, Sovereign God! He is whatever we need.

Nothing any person says about God can cause us to really know God as He says He is. We yearn for intimacy with God that we see in others, thinking “they’re obviously not as sinful as me.” We read about Him providing for Abraham but our hearts don’t believe and experience Him as such until He proves it on a personal level. Don’t be discouraged if you’re not experiencing God as your Provider, Healer, or Deliverer today. Instead, look up at Jesus and remember what He bought for you. Be encouraged because Jesus offers you the way. What Jesus purchased for you isn’t cheap and neither was the cost to Him.

Jesus bids us “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” What causes us to labor and be heavy hearted? It is simply the power and burden of sin in our hearts. What causes us to be separated from the presence of rest in a Holy God? It is simply sin in our hearts. Not sin done to us, but our own sin. Jesus is saying, “cast your sin upon Me, and the Father will meet your need.”

You know that sin, the one God’s been gently whispering in your ear about...that hidden rebellion against God...yes, that alone is hindering communion with God. Jesus says, “I died for it, if you believe this then own it and give it, and experience God and rest.” Will you “Come to Me” with that sin? Oh, this is where we have a decision to make...this is the moment we act...will we change the subject, blame someone else, justify our sin, make excuses? Or will we respond to His invitation and say, “yes Lord Jesus, this is my heart, cleanse it so I may meet with Holy God today?”

So what transpires when our communion with God is unhindered? What did Jesus buy in addition to our salvation? He bought our peace, our rest. When we come before God, knowing Christ has washed us clean and carried our burdens, a miraculous, invisible transaction takes place in our hearts and minds. Merciful and Gracious God breathes the assurance of His love and security over us once again. He gives us what we need...He becomes Who He is in a personal, intimate, and very real experience. This is what builds our faith in Him, this is why we praise His name, because we’ve experienced God as He says He is...

...and Jesus Christ is continually, ever and always the Way.

“One thing I have desired of the LORD, that I will seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in His temple.” Ps 27:4
